Does anyone have any information concerning John and Robert Wright, of the 10th VA. Regiment, 2nd. Brigade, 5th Division, under Capt. Richard Stevens, who were from Caroline County, VA.? Any help would be very much appreciated. I am also searching for information concerning John and Richard Musco of Caroline County, who had their property impressed during the Rev. War, and were asking for reimbursement.

The DAR Index has many John Wrights listed from VA. There are 4 Roberts listed with this one from Caroline Co. The index only has this type of info so don't know if he is who you are looking for. Do you have any dates for John or his wife's name?

WRIGHT, ROBERT Ancestor # A130982
Birth Date: CIRCA 1762
Birth County/Parish: CAROLINE CO
Birth State/Country: VIRGINIA
Death Date: POST 8 Mar 1852
Death County/Parish: CAROLINE CO

He received a pension so more info is probably available via National Archives or Heritage Quest available online at some libraries.

There is one John from Caroline Co. however there are a couple of Johns with no county given.

WRIGHT, JOHN Ancestor # A130901

Birth State/Country: VIRGINIA
Death Date: 1815
Death County/Parish: CAROLINE CO
Death State/Country: VIRGINIA

No pension(s) are indicated. He or she might have applied and were refused--no way of knowing from this info.
I didn't find the surname Musco listed. Is there another way to spell their name?

I don't have much more information to work with, except that I think John Wright may have married Elizabeth Durrett. I would be interested in any Wright's you might have from Caroline County, VA., who fought in the Rev. War, and got a pension after. I am also interested in learning what towns in Caroline County that these Wright's were connected to. Thank you for taking the time to help me. I appreciate it.

Hi Gayle,
The surname could have been spelled Musco, Muscoe, or Muscow. John and Richard Musco of Caroline Co., VA. had some of their property or possessions impressed or confiscated by the Patriots during the Rev. War, and they were requesting reimbursement.
Also, Musco Wright, John Wright, and Robert Wright enlisted in the 10th VA. Regiment, 2nd. Brigade, 5th Division, under Capt. Richard Stevens in March of 1777, and it appears that they enlisted from Caroline Co., VA. in all likelihood. There may be a family relationship there.
Musco Wright deserted at Valley Forge and enlisted with the British at Philadelphia on April 26, 1778. It does not appear that the other Wright's in his unit and regiment deserted. Musco joined the First Battalion of PA. Loyalists, and he was connected to William Grier and Robert Fields in that Loyalist group. I don't know if they deserted or not; however, there were Fields and Grier's in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Thank you for the information concerning John and Robert Wright. I found out about John and Richard Musco asking for reimbursement at the Virginia State Library, but I have been unable to learn more about them. Any further help that you might be able to give me about them or Musco Wright would be very much appreciated.

I didn't find anyone with the last name of your spellings. I did find one with Muscoe as a first name but his last name was not Wright. As you can see, I've changed my email address. I haven't been able to find a place on Ancestry to change it on all my previous msgs. like it does on genealogy.com msg. bds.

I thought I'd sent this one but with my computer being down so long--it might have been a different person I sent it too! Anyway there is this John in the DAR Index:
WRIGHT, JOHN Ancestor # A130901
Birth Date: CIRCA 1760
Birth State/Country: VIRGINIA
Death Date: 1815
Death County/Parish: CAROLINE CO
Death State/Country: VIRGINIA
Rank: SOLDIER
Service State/Organization: VIRGINIA
Spouse(s): ELIZABETH DURRETT
This does not show he or family received a pension--it would show something if they did. They may have applied but were refused but that wouldn't show on the site.
