Surnames: Morey, Benedict, Heinrich
I am trying to trace my grandmother's birth family back to see if they resided in either Ireland or Scottland. Her maiden name was Edna Morey. She first married Roy Benedict, my father's dad, then when he died, my dad was only a few months old, she married a man whos last name was Heinrich. Dad was born somewhere in S. Dakota. Help!!!
Thank You for your time and any information that you can give.
Once again,Thank You.

Sincerely,

J.B. Gold

You are right in thinking that orginally 'morey' came from ireland. Howver ther were many families in england who were morey who could evn have emigrated. I am trying ton trace morey / mooreys who came from kent, england.

Any idea where edna came from?

My Grandmother Edna, was born in Wisconsin. I was looking at the Morey message list and, it seems, I may have located a "lost" cousin, J. Gold. The Morey's are from England. I have them traced back to Roger Morey of 1616.

I would be pleased to hear whether any of you morey ancestors come from the county of Kent England.

I am reseacrhing my wife's family tree and we can only connect her back to a couple who lived in Hoo about 1800.

I have the name up through Roger Morey in 1616, but have him in RI. But I was given the following contact: geoffrey.williams@xtra.co.nz as a person who has researched the Morey's. The person I received this from states: an international mail list on the Mowry/Morey line --
through some people's first hand research. Last she had was Geoffrey's research was up to #354. I hope this helps. I do have Roger Morey's wife: Mary Johnson being born in Ware, Hertfordshire, England.

I am sorry, but the only Moreys, so far, that I know about were my Grandmother, her brother Art. (He lived in South Dakota, Rutland area for a short time), their brother named Archie (may be a nickname) Morey. Their parent's names were Edward L and Ettie (Byce) Morey from Racine WI. If I find out more about our Archie, I will be happy to send it to you.

A Julius MOREY was B abt 1878 to Chauncy MOREY and Emma FOWLER in Bristol, Day CO, SD. He had at least three children: Chancy, Barney Lorene. Don't know anything else. Sorry.

I was over at the US Gen project searching for more info. on our Morey and stumbled upon a MOREY, Julius A. in BLM records owning/homesteading 40 acres in SD. You may already have the information, but thought I would pass it on.

Do you know who Edward L Morey's parents were? Have you connected him to the RI Roger line?
