My father Sam recently told me (Anthony J Procopio) that my great grandfather came over from the Calabria area when he was 12 yrs old. I was told that he came alone with no adult and was a mason worker by trade. He arrived in Ny ( Ellis Island ) and moved to Camden NJ in the early 1900's. He built various fountains in the area the most notible the water fountain in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Please e-mail back and I'll provide additional information

My Procopio family comes from the town of Cutro in Calabria, Italy. My Great Grandfathers name was Alfonso Procopio his wife was Elizebeth. They had 7 Children, Joseph, Salvador, Thomas, Frank, Ercula, Geatano, and Alfonso. Joseph Procopio was my Grandfather. Alfonso Procopio first came to Ellis Island, NY with two of his sons, my grandfather Joseph and his other son Thomas in the early 1900's to work in West Virginia at the coal mines as stone masons, they would build entrances to the mines. Thomas was thrown from a horse at 11 years old and died. They returned to Italy and in the 1930's my grandfather and grandmother Rosa Romano Procopio and thier children immagrated to the US. All of the family, Joseph and Rose Procopio's decendents, now resides in Maryland. If anyone recognizes any of these names please email me to share any further information you may have.

Surnames: Procopio
My greatgrandfather was Frank Vittorio Procopio ( Francisco?)
He came from Calabria and had at least one brother named Sam ( Salvatore or Saverio?) They eventually ended up in the PA/OH region. Frank came to America circa 1905 or so. Any relation?

Was your Grandfather called Sam? Did he have a shoe shop or barber shop in Powhatan Point in SE Ohio on the Ohio river? If so he could be my great grandfathers brother.
