Regarding your posted message. My ancestors migrated from San Giovanni, Fiore, Reggio di Calbria, Italy in the late 1800's to early 1900's. I've just begun doing some research on the name and thus far have the following to go on.
I am doing some research on my father's family history. I am a complete amateur in this process, so please bear with me.
My dad's father and grandfather along with other brothers immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's.
My great grandfather's name was Beaggio Pignanelli. He immigrated from Regio Calabria, Comune Di San Giovanni in Fiore Provincia Di Cosenza, Italy in 1901. He was married twice. I have no information on his first wife who was the mother of my grandfather Samuel M. Pinion (Pignanelli--during the immigration process the name was changed) and two other sons Mike and Tony (Tony died in Italy). She would have been my paternal Great Grandmother.
His second wife's name was Felamena Schipani. Beaggio Pignanelli and Felamena (Schipani) Pignanelli had three children Joseph, John and Agatina. Joseph and John came to the U.S. in 1913 and 1918 respectively. Felamena and Agatina never immigrated.
My father's maternal grandfather and grandmother (my great grandparents) were Antonio (Scalisea) Goots (immigrated to the U.S. in 1902) and Angela Marie (Secreta) Goots. Both were born in St. John's, Italy. My great-great grandmother's name was Maria Teresa Minard Secreto.
