Marta,
My name (Kozbelt) was originally Kozbial. Sometime in the late 1800's prior to my grandfather, Jozef, coming to the USA from the Spis Region of Slovakia (then Austria-Hungary), my surname was changed to Kozbelt. It is my understanding that my great-grandfather, Peter Kozbial, originally came from Wadowice, Poland (Galicia), and was born in about 1828. I would very much like to hear from you regarding any family history information you may have about our mutual surname. Because of the rarity of our name, I am certain that everyone with the Kozbial name are related in some way. Do you know how long the name Kozbial has been in use? I have been told that it is a very old name and originally could be found in the Poland Spisz and Slovakia Spis Regions as well as other areas of these two countries.
Anxious to receive any family information you may have on Kozbial.
Sincerely,
James Kozbelt (Kozbial)
