Hi Robert, I hope we are of the same Hadley family. My father, Donald, has been trying to trace a family relative. He is in his 70's and said that the Hadley's that were our relatives would have children about his age now. The family lived at Stoneybrook Lane (or the name sounds like that) in Birmingham, England.
My great grandmother sent home $2 every month for something and that is the only part of the story that I can remember. Finding any of his relatives would be a great father's day present.
Please respond if you are still here.
bitty

It is good to see activity even though the original post was long ago.

Have you considered participating in the Hadley DNA Project? We really wish we had more participant from England, or descendants who came from England fairly recently.
Ref: www.hadleydna.org

Brad

I also have limited data on other Hadley lines. Please contact me directly at Jags@hvc.rr.com. I would like to talk with you to see if we can uncover the roots of your family. Happy Easter, Jim Hadley

I don't have anything on these folk, but in reading your question it jumped out at me that if George was the father of Fred, he was 62 when Fred. Not impossible, but not very common.

Many are not aware that familysearch.org has LOTS more stuff than it used to. Entering the info you gave, I found Fred and Jessie's marriage record, which gives his parents as Charles W. and Ada E. (Derby) Hadley. Also gives Jessie's parents and more.

Good luck!
Brad

I'm trying to research Hadleys that lived in Stoneham or Reading Massachusetts (middlesex county)but I'm hitting a brick wall no matter which way I go. My grandfather's name was Fred R Hadley born May 25, 1886 in Reading Mass and died in 1944 in Lynn, Mass. He married Jessie E. Brown. I believe his father was George W. Hadley born in Reading, MA in 1832 but I'm not exactly sure. This is as far back as I've been able to find. If anyone could help me out, I would so greatly appreciate it.

My Grandfather was named Fred Royal Hadley born in 1886 in Reading Massachusetts. I believe his fathers name was Charles W born 1832 in Reading also. The only possible connection I find is to a William Hadley born 1871 in Calais Maine so that couldn't be Charles' father. Anyone that could shed any light on this I would greatly appreciate it. I know Fred married Jessie E Brown and had three childred Frederick, Lillian and Mary. My mother was Lillian. I was the youngest of all relatives and have no others that I know of to question about this. Thanks again.

Hi Mark, and Rebecca, We are still stuck at a brick wall on George's origins. We have a few leads with DNA matches between known George descendants and others who are almost certainly not descended from George, but we have yet to be able to trace these others back to find a common ancestor. A couple of these are Headley's.

We are still trying to find participants for the DNA project whose Hadley/Headley ancestors remained in England. We have funds to help with the cost of testing. So if you encounter any Hadleys that meet that description, point them to the Hadley DNA Website: hadleydna.org
Brad

John Alexander and Elizabeth Hedley (Hadly)?

Seeking information on a John Alexander (1766-1849) who married a Elizabeth Hedley (Hadly) June 27, 1811 in Jefferson County, Ohio. Elizabeth was reportedly born in 1766 in Virginia and died in 1839 (not sure where; possibly Ohio). John was reportedly born in Pennsylvania (possibly Washington County). John and Elizabeth reportedly had three children; Benjamin *1818 born in Pennsylvania; Robert (Oct 1820 in Harrison County, Ohio) and Rachael (1826), also born in Ohio.
Trying to confirm birth dates and marriage relationship due age Elizabeth would have been when the three children born. Information relevant to who John's parents were, place when they came from, and any connections to suspected Scottish heritage very much appreciated.
pls send to Shadowfox60@comcast.net

Thanks for answering my query. No i'm not from the Thomasville Georiga area. I now reside in Birmingham Alabama.Yes I have contacted Jack Hadley and have recieved some help but not enough to answer the questions I need to know. My mother passed away September 2010. I regret not getting all of the family history before her demise. I will be attending the Hadley family reunion this July 2012 in Washington Dc.I need to know where my family fit in. The census record for 1870 and 1880 List my Greatgrandfather Cornelious Hadley and Adline Hadley as mother and son.Cornelious SR married Pauline Smith and had Corneloius Jr. Who was married to Susie Moore Hadley who had my mom Jeannette Hadley Thompson.I am also trying to find out who was Rececca Hadley born in 1795 and was our family ties linked with Jasper and Watkins Hadley whose slave owner and father was Simon Hadley. I am still new at geneology and would appreciate any help or leads. Thanking you in advance.I can also be reached on my email at senie2386@att.net ,M Lewis

Goffstown Photo Album, mid-late 1800s

In 2006, a group of Hadleys acquired an old photo album with pictures from around 1850 through 1880. I scanned the pictures before we donated the actual album to the Goffstown Historical Society.

Many of the pictures are either the original or from the same sitting as those used in the published History of Goffstown. I have placed the writeup about the album and scans of all the pictures in the Reference section of http://www.hadleyfamily.us.

Some of the names in the album: David B. Hadley, Capt. Peter E. Hadley, Eliza Hadley, Peter E. Hadley, post mortem CDV, and tintype of Mary E. Cochran (wife of Peter E. Hadley), Geo. P. Hadley, Wm.Hadley, Ann Hadley, Plummer Hadley (1771-1861), B. Franklin Baker, Margaret Ann Baker, Hannah Elizabeth Rowe, A. Josephine Cochran, Janet Cochran (1773-1863), Henry Moose, Mary Woodbury, Issac Boyd, Thomas Wildey (founder of oddfellows in america) and others. There are a total of 49 pictures.

If you can identify any of the pictures that don't currently have a caption, or see anything that is incorrect,
please let me know.

Rockingham Co. NH Hadley Land Records

As part of a research project I'm working on, I went through all of the land records in Rockingham County, NH through 1780. Because of the long dispute between NH and MA over the line, the towns of Amesbury and Haverhill often found themselves on the NH side when Hadleys were buying or selling property.

Although I didn't find anything of interest for my current project, I don't want to waste my notes if someone else could use them. So I added them to my Reference materials at http://www.hadleyfamily.us . Basically my notes are a transcript of the index with some additional notes. In case you didn't hear, almost all of the Rockingham County Land Records have been scanned and are linked to the index at http://nhdeeds.com/rockingham/RoDisclaimer.html .

Your query didn't mention if you are located in or near Thomasville, or have access to the folk there, so I apologize if what I say is already known to you.

Have you contacted Jack Hadley, http://www.jackhadleyblackhistorymuseum.com ?

FYI, assuming you're descended from Richard Hadley, Sr. (1823-1910) we have DNA evidence that he is descended from Simon Hadley, the slave owner, and back to his ancestor Simon Hadley who came to America from Ireland.
Reduced prices on DNA Test

As administrator of the Hadley DNA Project, http://www.hadleydna.org, I'm passing on the news that the company that does our DNA analysis is offering special prices on the DNA test. The "37-marker test" is now only $119 US and the "67-marker test" is $199 US. The prices are good only until January 7. You save about $30 on the tests. (The prices have come down in the past two years; when we started we paid $250 for the 25-marker test). Either of these tests are acceptable for our purposes, although if you can afford it, the 67-marker test is more conclusive.
Ref: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?code=S35238&amp...
