Many thanks for the extensive effort.

Art was an interesting person. About 1950 he purchased a totaled 1950 or so Ford and completly rebuilt the vehicle to what looked to me like new condition. He also converted a 1930's Packard into a tow truck for his service station.

Rodney

Hello , I am so glad that you live in Saskatchewan. His name is Arthur Murphy Sigsworth. He left Galt at the end of 1911 to the beginging of 1912. I have traced him to Stoneybrook/Weyburn Saskatchewan. This I know because he joined the army from 1915-1917. I found a death in Wolseley for an Arthur Murphy Sigsworth 1953-but since I do not belong to the site/I could not go any further. The dates would match. I am not sure whether he remarried. I know that he has used birth dates of Oct./1874 & 1883 place of birth was Ireland listed on his Army record/religon Roman Catholic. I am not sure whether you could help-but it is worth a try. If you send me all your info, I can when I have time go to the Archives for you. Please send it e-mail louisekesselring@hotmail.com Thanks Louise

Hi, You can also go to gthe Cambridge Archives and they have the original Galt papers in their files. This is where I found the obits regarding my huisband's family. It takes a while to go though the micro film, but it is worth it. They have an abundance of old records including marriage, obits and deaths. e-mail archives@cambridge.ca
History City Hall 46 Dickson Street, 2nd Floor, Cambridge Ontario open M-F 8:30-4:30 The news paper was called the Galt Reporter (1973 the 3 towns of Galt,Preston,Hespeler joined to become Cambridge) I hope this helps.
Lookup for Amelia Kern Herres

I am trying to find any record or information for Amelia Kern Herres who, I understand, is buried in St Agatha, Waterloo, Ontario. She was born 31 May 1850 in St Agatha, married Simeon Herres in 1874 in New Jersey USA, and died 18 May 1880 in Michigan. However, she was buried in St Agatha, Ontario. I am trying to find out who her parents were. I have no clue, any help would be appreciated.

Elliott (?), wife of Robert Anderson, Ayr, 1840s

I am searching for the name of the wife of Robert Anderson, b. 1805, Roxburgh, Scotland. He immigrated to the Dumfries area in 1836, and his sons were born in Ayr: James Andrew (1840), John Alexander Ritchie (1842) and Robert (1845). In the 1851/2 census, Robert was a widower. Neither his nor his sons' death certificates list the name of the wife/mother.

I do have a few clues that indicate that she might have been the sister of Jane Elliott, b. Dumfriesshire, Scotland, who married Robert Marshall (Minto, Wellington County). The granddaughters of Robert and Jane called each other "cousin". John AR gave his son the middle name "Elliott" and his daughter did the same with her son. Therefore, Elliott is probably a family name. Of course, it's possible that Mrs. Anderson and Jane Elliott were themselves cousins, not sisters (making my search even more complicated).

Jane's sisters were Helen (1812), Margaret (1813), Isabella (1815), Nancy (1818) and Jessie (1820). Helen and Margaret seem the most likely candidates, given that Robert was born in 1805. There is a Margaret Anderson buried in Ayr, Cemetery, but there were 2 Robert Andersons in Ayr in 1850!

Hi everyone. I'm wanting to look for obituaries for some of my DALGLIESH, AMOS, LIND, and LAWRIE ancestors. From what I know they lived around Galt during the 1800's. I'm wondering if someone could tell me the names of the newspaper(s) I'd be likely to find Galt news in, so I can request microfilms of the newspapers through inter-library loan.

Thanks
